Stretch Yoga Teacher Training Brisbane
MODULE 1: History of Yoga & Introduction to Yogic Philosophy
Module 1 in our Yoga Teacher Training program focuses on yoga's rich history, and gives an introduction to it's philosophy and lineages.
Yoga is an ancient system from India thousands of years ago which helps us to develop mastery over ourselves and our lives, enables us to penetrate deeper into the untapped realms of consciousness and to function with a more complete knowledge of ourselves. With application of its practices in our daily lives, yoga teaches us to dissociate ourselves from situations which disturb us or victimise us; this then gradually develops into an experience which liberates, rather than further binds us; and it expands our perception rather than allowing us to contract into narrow-mindedness. Yoga can be an art for those who wish to take charge of the fluctuations of the mind and moods, of willpower and concentration, a tonic for those who are looking for a natural tranquiliser in times of stress and anxiety, or a method of transformation for those who seek a path to inner peace, intuitive knowledge and a higher state of consciousness.
Objectives: To introduce the students to the course, each other and establish the importance of class practice, self-practice, self-study and integrating the 8 Limbs into their lives throughout the training and beyond.
To ensure that students have a strong understanding of the history of yoga and the different styles and lineages of yoga.
To introduce the concepts of prana, yogasana and the koshas.
