Module 9: Externally Rotated Standing Poses
Objectives: Students learn how to focus on the articulation of the thigh bones in the hip sockets in virabhadrasana 2.
Benefits, key actions and contraindications for each pose. Practice each pose with teachers cues individually, then with each other and learn how to align with directions through observation, practice and hands on experience.
Students to begin to teach each other with simple cues and begin to learn the effects of instructing with the correct cues.
Content:
• Review bones and muscles affected in each pose
• Vrksasana
• Virabhadrasana 2
• Utthita parsvakonasana
• Utthita trikonasana
• Ardha chandrasana
• Parighasana
• Malasana
• Prop usage in each pose
• Yoga class with focus on externally rotated standing poses.
