Module 10: Backbends
Objectives: Students will develop a deeper understanding of the spine in back bending and how the alignment of each limb, shoulder joint affects the pose.
Students will learn importance of strengthening the back muscles and how to sequence back bending into a class
Benefits, key actions and contraindications for each pose. Practice each pose with teachers cues individually, then with each other and learn how to align with directions through observation, practice and hands on experience.
Students to begin to teach each other with simple cues and begin to learn the effects of instructing with the correct cues.

• Salabhasana
• Bhujangasana
• Urdhva Mukha Svanasana
• Dhanurasana
• Purvottanasna
• Ustrasana
• Setu Bandha Sarvangasana
• Viparita Dandasana in chair
• Urdhva Dhanurasana
• Supta Virasana
• Matsyasana
• Eka Pada Raja Kapotasana
• Prop usage in each pose
• Yoga class with focus on backbending
