Module 6: Seated Postures & Forward Bends
Objectives: Students will develop a deep understanding of each pose and learn that the seated poses and forward bends come from the 3 blueprint poses – dandasana, baddha konasana and paschimottanasana.
Benefits, key actions and contraindications for each pose. Practice each pose with teacher’s cues individually, then with each other and learn how to align with directions through observation, practice and hands on experience.
Students to begin to teach each other with simple cues and begin to learn the effects of instructing with the correct cues.

• Overview of forward bends
• Review bones and muscles affected in each pose
• Dandasana
• Baddha Konasana
• Janu Sirsanana
• Paschimottanasana
• Upavistha Konasana
• Kurmasana
• Balasana
• Virasana
• Gomukhasana
• Sukhasna
• Padmasana
• Eka Pada Raja Kapotasana
• Prop usage in each pose
• Yoga asana class taught by principal teacher focusing on surya namsakar and seated postures
