Module 22: Communication & Business of Yoga
Objectives: Students will develop an understanding of the legal, ethical and practical implications of being a yoga teacher in a commercial environment.
Students will be encouraged to think about how the yamas and niyamas can be applied in teaching yoga and developing their own businesses and personal brand.

• The yoga industry and how to get work
• Where to teach
• Legal requirements for teaching – insurance, duty of care
• How much to charge
• Invoicing and keeping records
• Tax considerations (what you can claim, structuring your business)
• Getting your name out there – marketing
• Developing your ‘brand’
• Social media, websites and creating an online presence
• Creating a resume, applying for jobs, understanding interview questions and trials
• Ethical considerations of teaching – trauma sensitive yoga, adjustments, sexual harassment, integrating the yoga guidelines into how you conduct yourself as a teacher
