How to Get Your Yoga Mojo Back

It happens to all of us at some point. We’re going well – attending regular classes, nailing new poses, feeling on top of the world when we practice and then - *bam* - our mojo just disappears. What was once the hour we looked forward to all day becomes the thing that we want to avoid the most. We start coming out with excuses like “I’m not feeling the best” or “Work is really just too crazy right now”, but what we really mean is that we’ve lost our yoga mojo and we don’t know how to get it back!
With temperatures dipped to a pretty epic low right now, mojo loss is at a yearly high! So, if your mojo has gone MIA, here’s our top 5 tips for finding it again:

1.  Mix it Up

Are you a vinyasa junkie normally? Why not try some bolster hugging yin instead? Need some extra motivation to get moving? Why not try some Hip Hop Flow with killer tunes to get that mojo flowing again. Boredom in our practice is a definite mojo killer, so trying something completely different might be just the ticket.

2. Grab a Yoga Buddy

Us humans are social beings, and a shared experience is always more fun! Finding a yoga buddy (new or old) can be a great way to increase your mojo levels – especially if you combine a yoga class with grabbing a green smoothie, cup of coffee or glass or wine afterwards (no judgement!). If you don’t have any current friends looking to Stretch, why not try and make friends with someone at your studio? Yogis are a friendly bunch!

3. Make a new yoga purchase

Ok, so while this isn’t the most ‘yogic’ tip, it certainly works for us! Who doesn’t want to practice more when they’ve got a cute new pair of yoga pants or a brand spanking new mat to try out. An investment in yoga products is an investment in your health – so why not treat yourself and show yourself the love that yoga is really all about!

4. Make your own 30 Day Challenge

Whether it’s to go 30 times in 30 days or 3 times a week, setting yourself a challenge can sometimes be just the thing! Make sure you have an accountability person (studio receptionists are always pretty good!) and a clear goal and most importantly, set yourself an award for when you complete the challenge (a great massage is our personal fave!).

5. Take your practice outside

There is nothing quite like a change of scenery to get you motivated! Our Sunday Stretch Sessions in the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens is one of our personal favourites. Sunshine, stretching and fresh air are such a perfect combo for giving your soul a little lift! Plus, it’s a great way to get your daily vitamin D in too!

Do you have any tips on upping your yoga mojo? We would love to hear your thoughts! Looking forward to seeing you (and your mojo) on your mat here at Stretch too!

The idea of a '30-day challenge' is really crossing my mind right now. I'm open to the challenge.
