When were you first introduced to Pilates?
I was first introduced to Pilates 5 years ago when I started to practice it as a form of strength training to compliment my running. I loved it so much I decided to become an instructor! What has helped you stick with it? What has helped me stick with it is the people I’ve met and seeing everyone happy with the different goals they’ve been able to achieve through their practice. Also the fact that it’s fun and not necessarily a chore because it benefits you far beyond the physical aspects. Which exercise is your favourite and why? My favourite exercise are squats!! You can do so much with a simple squat, make them harder or easier using different props etc. and they do wonders for your legs! What is your favourite thing about teaching at Stretch? My favourite thing about teaching at Stretch is definitely the people! Everyone including the other instructors and clients - there is a genuine feeling of love, appreciation and friendliness and it’s so relaxed! Definitely doesn’t feel like a job at all. What 3 exercises would you recommend a beginner to do daily? 3 exercises for a beginner would be a plank - there are so many different variations you can work with, building from easier to more challenging and it’s a great core strengthening exercise. Bridge - these help strengthen the glutes, are fairly low impact, simple to master and you can build up to a few different variations as well to make them more challenging. Lastly the flight exercise for your triceps - I find the triceps can be a forgotten about sometimes but this exercise is super easy to do and you definitely feel them afterwards. Great for toning your arms up! You can catch Nadine for Pilates at lunchtime on Monday, Wednesday and Friday's in our CBD Studio!
