Join Leanne for her series of advanced asana classes themed and interwoven with yogic philosophy. Throughout the practice Leanne will weave knowledge of different concepts from ancient texts such as the Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika.
Designed for students looking to take their practice deeper, each month you'll enjoy a 90 minute class formulated around a specific family of asanas while taking wisdom from an introduction to different yoga philosophies.
This is an intermediate practice suitable for the curious and open minded!
First Workshop - Wednesday May 5th
The Karmic Cycle
Leanne's first workshop is themed around one of the main concepts in yoga philosophy: the Karmic cycle in life. This workshop topic is based off of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. These sutras, widely regarded as the authoritative text on yoga, are a collection of aphorisms, outlining the eight limbs of yoga. These “threads” (as sutra translates from Sanskrit) of wisdom offer guidelines for living a meaningful and purposeful life. The class structure will creatively relate to this concept by exploring a range of different asana to reflect this in a somatic manner. Please bring a journal and pen!
Second Workshop - Wednesday June 2nd
The Bhagavad Gita
Leanne's second workshop will be themed around the story of the Bhagavad Gita. The Gita is the sixth book of the Mahabharata, one of India’s most famous epic poems - many see it as the first fully realised yogic scripture. Curious though it may seem that such an ancient text from a foreign culture has been so enthusiastically received by Westerners, the Gita, like all truly great works of literature, can be read on many levels: metaphysical, moral, spiritual, and practical; hence it's appeal. This workshop will explore the story of the Gita while practicing asana to connect the theory. Please bring a journal and a pen!
